MORRIS ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE ECO TOUR

Morris Island Lighthouse Eco Tour

Join the charter boat for two and a half hours and explore the ebb and flow of Folly’s surrounding tidal estuaries. This exploratory boat cruise will take us through treasured tidal creeks to Morris Island Lighthouse where you will have the opportunity to set out on foot and explore the historic island, beach, and its many shells.

On the way to Morris Island, you”ll ride along salt marshes home to over 70,000 species, which is one of our country’s most protected natural resources. In our search for native wildlife, you’ll be amazed at the breathtaking scenery, abundant bird life and the wild atlantic bottlenose dolphins. While viewing wild dolphins, you may have the opportunity to see these extraordinary animals perform a hunting strategy known as strand feeding. Strand feeding is an adaptive hunting technique the dolphins have made famous to the Lowcountry.

Here’s what people are saying about the Eco Tour:

“My husband and I wanted to give a shout out to Captain Joe and the rest of the folks at Charleston Outdoor Adventures. We had an awesome time this morning on our Eco-Tour. Capt. Joe was not only super friendly but also very knowledgeable on the ecology of Folly Beach and the surrounding areas. As an added bonus we spotted 21 dolphins on our trip! Simply amazing!”

“We thought Captain Luke was informative, friendly, and in love with his job. We saw hundreds of sand dollars, lots of different birds, a few crabs, and a handful of dolphins. The Morris Island Lighthouse is beautiful.”

“My partner and I did a 2-hour kayaking tour with Joey and Reese in early March. We had a wonderful experience and it was worth every penny. Check-in was a breeze, safety check was thorough, and quickly we were on the water. The marshlands alone are beautiful. The detail of knowledge that they have about the ecosystem brought the area more to life. If you want to dive deep into the science of the area, have these guys be your guides! We discussed the intricate and complex role that oysters have in the ecosystem, the wonder of pluff mud, and even how often dolphins shed their skin (way more often than I would have guessed!)”
